"Do One Thing for Diversity and Inclusion" World Day for Cultural Diversity May 21 - Online Video Contest

Participating in the "Do One Thing for Diversity and Inclusion" video contest of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) means that you have agreed to all of the rules and regulations listed below.

For promotional and educational purposes we will be using the selected videos on diverse platforms for the "Do One Thing for Diversity and Inclusion" campaign as well as include them on the PLURAL + Youth Video Festival DVD.

OPPORTUNITIES: Global Creative Contest

The Global Youth Coalition on HIV/AIDS (GYCA), a program of TakingItGlobal, is organizing a creative contest for young people (15 to 29 years old) all over the world. The contest is focused on youth perspectives of HIV and AIDS and how this is communicated through creative expression. August 2010 – August 2011 was designated by the UN General Assembly as the International Year of Youth, a time when issues related to young people will be highlighted and prioritized, particularly in the context of the Millennium Development Goals. This key event provides an opportunity to explore themes with youth and capitalize on this focus on young people to bring creative youth voices to the forefront.

GYCA wants to take advantage of this opportunity to highlight issues related to sexual and reproductive health and rights and how they relate to adolescents and young people.

Contest participants can choose to express:

Why comprehensive sexuality education is important for HIV prevention (CSE)
How stigma and discrimination affects young people living with HIV (S&D)
What sexual and reproductive health and rights mean to you (SRHR)

The creative works will be featured on the GYCA website, and may be used in campaigns and documents during the International Year of Youth and beyond, always giving credit to the artists. Winners will be announced on March 1 and a special GYCA newsletter will be distributed showcasing the top-rated submissions.'

OPPORTUNITIES: World Youth Movement for Democracy Essay Contest

The World Youth Movement for Democracy, a youth network of the World Movement for Democracy, is pleased to announce the launch of its Global Essay Contest. Fifteen semi-finalists (3 in each region: Asia, Central/Eastern Europe & Eurasia, Middle East & North Africa, Latin America & Caribbean, and Sub-Saharan Africa) will be announced on Human Rights Day, December 10, and will have their essays published on the WYMD Web site. Two global winners will be invited to participate in the upcoming Community of Democracies Ministerial Meeting in Vilnius, Lithuania, in July 2011.

OPPORTUNITIES: Youth contest seeks essays on private enterprise, democracy (GLOBAL)

Young writers, aged 18 to 30, from across the world are invited to submit essays on how to create opportunities for youth to strengthen democracy and the private sector in their own countries. Deadline to apply: June 18.

The competition is seeking essays in three categories: 1) Democracy that delivers, 2) enterpreneurship and society and 3) women and participation.

Essays should be between 2,000 and 3,000 words. In each category, first, second, and third place authors will receive a US$1,000 honorarium, and will have their essays published by the competition organizer, the Center for International Private Enterprise.

Young people from around the world are again invited this year to enter the 2010 International Essay Contest for Young People organized by the Goi Peace Foundation and UNESCO. The theme of the 2010 International Essay Contest for Young People is:

OPPORTUNITIES / CONTESTS: Plural+ Festival

Youth ages 9 to 25 are invited to submit short videos promoting harmony in diverse societies to the PLURAL+ video festival, to be held at the Paley Center for Media in New York City on December 18. Deadline for submitting entries is September 30.

PLURAL+ is a video festival for youth-produced media aimed at building a more inclusive, tolerant society. The festival will address key issues in today's youth communities, such as migrant integration, inclusiveness, identity, diversity, human rights and social cohesiveness.

Applicants must meet the age requirement by September 30. Entrants may work together in groups, but the entry will be judged in the age category of the eldest youth.

Each entry package must contain: A fully completed and signed entry form, including co-signature by a parent, guardian, teacher or responsible adult if the entrant a minor in his/her country of residence and a DVD of the video (all DVDs must have the name of the entrant(s) and the English title of the video printed on top of the DVD in permanent marker). The official language of the festival is English.

Младежки видеоконкурс на УНИЦЕФ

УНИЦЕФ организира видеоконкурс по повод 20-годишнината от подписването на Конвенцията за правата на детето. Всички млади хора до 25 години могат да изпращат кратки видеа, които да представят тяхната визия за правата на детото на световно, национално или местно равнище.

Клиповете трябва да са с дължина точно една минута, и да са тясно свързани в правата на децата. Желаещите трябва да ги публикуват видеата онлайн на YouTube, Blip.tv, Dailymotion, Veoh, както и да ги изпратят на електронната поща на конкурса: unicef.crc.videocontest@gmail.com.

Изпратените видеоклипове ще бъдат оценявани от международни жури от медийни експерти. Най-доброто видео ще бъде излъчвано по цял свят в рамките на Международния ден на правата на детето 2010, както и на празненството по повод подписването на Конвенцията за правата на детето.

PHOTO / COMPETITIONS: "Kazakhstan, take with you only the best"

Photographers in Kazakhstan can now submit photos to a contest that is a part of an effort to create a positive image of modern Kazakhstan. Deadline to submit photos: June 30.

The contest, under the theme "Kazakhstan, take with you only the best," is accepting submissions that depict topics such as equal rights and opportunities, national traditions, women, Kazakh oil, native land and humor.

Prizes include a camera, software and computer hardware. The minimum age of participants is 14 years old. Both journalists and the public are welcome to apply.

The contest is being run by the Soros Foundation - Kazakhstan.

UNICEF Youth Video Contest

UNICEF wants to see what you think about children's rights! It's the 20th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), a document that celebrates all the important rights young people have. Make a video showing what child rights mean to you, whether in the world at large, your country, your community or you personally. Videos must be one minute in length and will be judged by professionals and youth from around the world. Winning videos will be featured in the CRC 20th Anniversary campaign and the 2010 International Children's Day of Broadcasting . The deadline for submissions is 1 August 2009.

Contest aims to bring attention to rural youth in Russia

A journalism contest organized by the Russian Union of Rural Youth aims to support and bring attention to Russian youth living and working in rural, agricultural areas.

Each month, from now through November, a new contest theme will be posted on the Web site of the Association of Agrarian Journalists. Reporters of federal, regional and local media, specializing in rural themes, are welcome to submit works to the contest committe.

Submissions are accepted until a new theme is announced. Winners will receive cash prizes.
