European Youth Press – network of young media makers in cooperation with Academy for Peace and Development invites you to participate in the seminar “Young Media Makers Preach and Practice Peaceful Journalism”. The implementation of the seminar is possible due to kind support of the European Youth Foundation, Council of Europe.

The aim of the seminar is to explore what peace journalism is and how it can be used by young journalists to foster peace building and conflict transformation.

The seminar will consider the ways in which peace and conflict transformation is to be represented in the media and will discuss the the role of young media makers in engaging in promoting peace building, conflict prevention and transformation. The participants will not only get a better comprehension of the peaceful journalism concept, but also will have the opportunity to put into practice their freshly gained skills. In addition to that, the seminar will tackle the issues such as Cultural Diversity and Intercultural Dialogue as major factors in supporting stability and intercultural understanding in Europe. The workshops will be led by CoE trainers’s pool and experienced journalists in field of peace and conflict reporting.

Who can participate: 22 young people (age 18-27) interested in peace journalism, journalists, bloggers from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Germany, Italy, Macedonia, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia and Spain.

Where: Kobuleti (20 km north of Batumi), Georgia.

When: 19 – 26 June 2010

Costs: Accommodation and food will be fully covered by organisers. Travel costs – participants will be reimbursed up to 200 euro upon presentation of relevant proofs.

Participation fee: 100 euro

The new exhibition The Rights of Children, inspired by the book bearing the same title, is the detailed testimony of photographer Giacomo Pirozzi on the condition of children and the work of UNICEF in developing nations. The book narrates the rights of children through photographs taken by the author during his 19 years of work around the world. Exquisite images that are fragments of lives lived on the edge, of denied and exploited childhoods, but that also allow for a glimmer of hope, because they show that it is possible to realize children’s rights by carrying out programs for their education, protection, health. The goal is to celebrate The Convention on the Rights of the Child on its twentieth anniversary (1989 – 2009) and to strengthen the awareness of UNICEF’s work on the field.

Short Movie Fest – INCA ITALIA South ITALY, 5‐10 May 2010

SHORT MOVIE FEST is a festival of short movies completely realised by young people between 18‐30 years old about interculturality, immigration and social inclusion.

Sections

Movies should be realised in the following 3 categories:

A. MIGRATIONS
B. Interculturality and cultural diversity
C. A Social Topic

Each participant or group should prepare one short movie (with a time limit of 10 minutes, including the titles) in one of the indicated sections. It is possible to participate at Festival with more than one video even in the same section. Videos not realized in the indicated thematic sections will be not considered for the Festival and cannot participate. All short movies must be sub‐titled in English and/or Italian.
It is possible to present videos in different format. For the projection it is requested a copy of short movie in DVD. Also videos (with very good resolution) in .avi, .mov, or mpeg format will be accepted.

The ENTRY FORM will be upload from: www.incaitalia.it
All the fields in the ENTRY FORM must be filled in before sending it via e‐mail at the address:

For the short videos on‐line (for example on youtube), in your e‐mail you can indicate the link to be seen. Together with the e‐mail, to become the participation effective, the ENTRY FORM must be printed, filled, dated and signed in original and the sent by post with the following material:

‐ a copy of short movie sub‐titled in English and/or Italian in DVD. Videos (with very good resolution) in .avi, .mov, or mpeg format will be accepted;
- a short bio‐filmography of movie makers in Italian or in English (max 100 characters);
- a synopsis in Italian or in English (max 100 characters);

Regolamento del concorso

1. Oggetto

Realizzate individualmente o in gruppo un video che tratti dei Diritti dell'infanzia in particolar modo del diritto alla partecipazione. Questo significa il riconoscimento ai bambini e ai ragazzi della libertà di esprimere se stessi e le proprie idee per partecipare attivamente alla vita sociale del proprio paese.

2. Partecipanti

"Un minuto di diritti" è un concorso riservato ai giovani dai 4 ai 18 anni e più precisamente ai nati dal 26 ottobre 1991 al 25 ottobre 2005. Ogni partecipante potrà concorrere con un massimo di tre video. Qualora il partecipante inviasse più di tre video, saranno valutati per il concorso, solo i primi tre video uploadati dal sito. Sono esclusi dalla partecipazione al concorso i minori legati da vincolo di parentela ai membri della Commissione.
