STUDIES / RESEARCH: Watching TV before bed can keep your child awake

Getting your children to sleep earlier may be as simple as cutting down on screen time during the 90 minutes before bed, according to a new study of more than 2,000 children.

The study, which appears in the February issue of the journal Pediatrics and is published online Monday, highlights the importance of controlling exposure to television or videogames before bedtime. Kids who watch more TV are likely to lie awake longer. Inadequate sleep, the study points out, is also associated with increased aggression, poor concentration and a host of other factors.
