CHILDREN'S TV: New free-TV children's channel in Germany


Munich-based media entrepreneurs Gottfried Zmeck (Mainstream Media AG) and Hans Ulrich Stoef (m4e AG) want to launch a new free-to-air TV channel.

Yep! will target boys between 6 and 13 years of age with action and cartoon series, reports German industry newsletter "kress" with reference to informed sources.

In addition to cartoon and real-life series, the channel whose abbreviation stands for "Young Entertainment Programme" will air action programmes in "Red Bull" style. Yep! will go on air in spring 2013 and finance through advertising. As a consultant, the channel has hired Andreas Bartl, former management board member of German TV group ProSiebenSat.1.
