NEWS / OPPORTUNITIES / PHOTO: FCMB, UNICEF mark Day of African Child with photography competition for children

Press Release-- In commemoration of the 2011 International Day of the African Child and Children’s Day, First City Monument Bank (FCMB) Plc in partnership with UNICEF is organizing a ‘Photography to Painting’ competition amongst junior secondary school children across selected schools in Lagos State.

The project themed ‘Survival of the Nigerian Child’ according to a joint press statement issued by FCMB and UNICEF, is aimed at drawing attention to the plight of the African Child as well as to raise funds for the benefit of underprivileged children in Nigeria.

The African child is faced with various social and economic challenges and abuses ranging from child labour, trafficking, genocide and a host of other perils that hinder the child from attaining his/her full potential within our society.

Children from the selected junior secondary schools in Lagos are expected to go into the community and take photographs that depict their own interpretations of the theme. Each participating student prints a picture and does a painting using the picture that was taken as reference.
