Ten young people aged 14 to 25 from across Tyne and Wear have become the first trained media champions in the country.
The group, who will help promote positive stories about young people in the media, complete the final day of their course today.
The four-day course, which started earlier in August, is being run in partnership with charity Headliners, the Regional Youth Work Unit North East and the Co-operative Foundation-funded The Truth About Youth project.
The media champions will gain a nationally recognised qualification, developed especially for the course.
It is the first of its kind in the UK and aims to help the young people develop skills to help youth groups promote themselves.
