COMPETITIONS / VIDEO: UNICEF's CRC 20th Anniversary Video Contest - Semi-Finalists Announced!

Watch all 12 semi-finalist videos and vote for your favorite.

It’s the 20th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). In 1989, world leaders decided that children needed a special convention just for them because people under 18 years old often are neglected in the human rights debate. They created the CRC, the world’s most widely ratified human rights treaty, which spells out the basic human rights that children everywhere have: the right to survival; to develop to the fullest; to protection from harmful influences, abuse and exploitation; and to participate fully in family, cultural and social life.

The CRC Video Contest asked young people all over the world to make a one minute video about what child rights mean to them. The winning video will be used in the CRC’s 20th anniversary celebration and made available for broadcast around the world for the 2010 The International Children’s Day of Broadcasting.

Over 100 young people responded to UNICEF's call for videos. Now, we want to hear from you! Please watch all 12 videos, then vote for your favorite one. The public vote will be tallied and the top choice will be counted as one vote along with each of the judges' votes. You can only vote once. The last day to vote is 18 October 2009.
