Top Names preparing for World Summit in Sweden
With almost two years to go, the preparations for Karlstad and Sweden and World Summit 2010 has begun world wide among teachers and media pedagogs, researchers and media professionals, youth organisations and international organisations working for childrens well-being. In early August 2008, almost 200 proposals for topics and activities from 50 countries from five continents, have reached the Summit office in Karlstad. Among those having confirmed their strong interest in coming to Karlstad as keynote speakers are Renee Hobbs (Professor at Temple University in Philadelphia USA), David Buckingham (Professor at University of London UK) and Jordi Torrent (Project Manager at United Nations Alliance of Civilizations New York City). We thank the Advisory Reference Group of 100 people for their great support during this spring.

We welcome your best ideas

Although, in some areas we especially welcome more input and ideas globally. From the Baltic region, the Balkans and Eastern Europe, we especially welcome proposals for one month, until September 1. We now encourage all who are interested in the areas of ”Freedom of speach”, ”Youth to youth communication” and ”Future outlooks on new technology for communication” to make your proposals. Asia Media Summit Kuala Lumpur

In May at the Asia Media Summit in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia, World Summit Project Management prepared with AIBD General Secretary Javad Mottaghi the engagement on preparations and participation of Asia Pacific AIBD members inviting all to make proposals and preparations for the 2010 World Summit. The response was a strong and promising one detailing project cooperations.

 

Media Overseas Conversations New York City

In June at the Media: Overseas Conversations, Director Per Lundgren moderated the talks on Media Literacy status in Europe with panellists Cary Bazalgette and Manel Jimenez, and met at United Nations Headquarters with Alliance of Civilizations project management Jordi Torrent for cooperations with World Summit. A number of project cooperation initiatives were followed up on and agreed on.

 

Corvara Italy Media education Summer School

In the Dolomites, the Italian Media Education Association organised its 17th Summer School and Director Per Lundgren participated by invitation in media education workshops, lectures and held a key note speech on the preparations for the World Summit in Karlstad 2010. The result was several projects initiatives and a coming cooperation bringing the summer school to Sweden in 2010 open to all. The Italian Media Education Association proved to be role model for engaged media education work creating meetings between media educators, researchers, policy makers and media professionals. The Med Media Education from Italy interviewed Director Per Lundgren about what is to come in World Summit 2010.
