ONLINE COURSES: Online professional development course in international youth journalism

Online professional development course in international youth journalism

Registration is now open for the PEARL online professional development course, which enables middle and secondary school teachers to integrate youth journalism into their curricula. The course also provides teachers the opportunity to get their students certified as youth reporters so they can report stories for a global online publication.

The course is based on the PEARL World Youth News project (http://www.pearl.iearn.org), a partnership between iEARN (International Education and Resource Network) and the Daniel Pearl Foundation. PEARL World Youth News is an online news service managed by secondary school students from around the world.

During the PEARL online course, teachers will discuss the tools and ethics of journalism. They will also involve their students in an online training course to get them certified as international reporters for PEARL World Youth News.

This course aims to demonstrate how engaging students in international reporting can not only enhance their writing skills but also increase their respect for diverse views and cultures.
