Moscow : The publishers of Russia's oldest humour magazine for children
have announced a contest for the best drawing about India.

"The contest is being held as part of the Year of Russia in India and is
devoted to Russia's participation as a guest of honour at the 18th New
Delhi World Book Fair," the head of the Vesyolye Kartinki Publishing
House, Irina Deshkova, told RIA Novosti in an interview.

Vesyolye Kartinki is organising the event in association with Russia's
Federal Agency for Print and Mass Media as well as the International
Projects Centre Ima Dialogue.

School children from all across Russia will take part in the
competition, Deshkova said. Drawings about Indian history and culture
can be submitted until Jan 15. Winners will receive souvenirs and will
be guests of honour at the Indian Embassy in Moscow. Members of the
embassy staff will sit on the jury panel.

The most interesting entries will be displayed at New Delhi book fair
from Feb 2-10.

A similar contest will be held next year in India, where children will
be invited to draw images of Russia.
