Council of Europe Secretary General presents 2006-07 "Young Active
Citizens" award
Malmö, Sweden - 06.10.2007. At the final event of the European Youth
Campaign on Diversity, Human Rights and Participation, the Secretary
General of the Council of Europe, Terry Davis, today presented the
"Young Active Citizens" award for 2006-07 to the following winning projects:
"Why All Different - When All Equal". A project designed to promote
integration and actively participation of disadvantaged youth into
social life. Carried out by the Youth Union "Bridge to the Future"
(Azerbaijan);
"Théatre Franco-Bulgare des Sciences: Entrons dans la science a travers
le Théatre". A joint project carried out by the "MOGA.ZNAM.TVORIM"
Association (Bulgaria/France);
"Jung+Moslem in Deutschland 2". A project to build bridges between young
people. Carried out by the "Medienprojekt Wuppertal e.V." (Germany);
"Community of the Unlike". A project to encourage intercultural
co-operation to promote human rights education. Carried out by the All
Russian Children's Centre "Orlyonok" (Russian Federation);
"Nothing about us, without us. Practice tool". A project to promote
participation, human rights and good governance. Carried out by the
Young City Council of Odessa (Ukraine).
The five winning projects were chosen by an international Jury from a
list of 67 pre-selected projects, all being part of the European Youth
Campaign. The winners received a diploma and 1,000 Euros.
Before the award ceremony Terry Davis urged the 300 participants of the
youth campaign to continue their efforts and to speak out against all
forms of discrimination. He promised that the "All different - all
equal" activities of the Council of Europe will continue in the coming
years, and that there will be a follow-up to the results of the youth
campaign in 2008.
