civilisations and cultures
Strasbourg, 27.09.2007- Some 300 young people and youth organisations
from different regions of the world are gathering in Mollina, Spain,
from 30 September to 7 October to participate in the 8th University on
Youth and Development.
The week-long event aims to determine the international youth's
contribution to the Alliance of Civilisations process and intercultural
dialogue.
Participants will be trained in inter-religious dialogue and
anti-discrimination in the Euro-Mediaterranean region, and learn more
about global youth education and participation. They will also attend
music and theatre sessions and take part in sports events that will
contribute to team building and strengthen social skills.
The event, entitled "Alliance of Civilisations, Intercultural Dialogue",
is hosted by the Spanish Youth Institute and organised by the
North-South Centre of the Council of Europe, in collaboration with other
partners such as the European Youth Forum, the Latin American Youth
Forum, the Spanish Youth Council and other international youth
organisations.
Launched in 2000, the University brings together representatives of
youth organisations and youth movements from all over the world to the
Euro-Latin-American Youth Centre to discuss, train and be trained, and
also to take political action on the main global issues.
