OULU AT 25: FOCUS ON FINNISH FILMS
Two local ? and another three Nordic ? features in competition at Finland?s Oulu International Children?s Film Festival, unspooling its 25th anniversary edition between Monday, 13 - Sunday, 19 November
Celebrating its 25th birthday, local fare still holds a prominent position in the programme of Finland?s Oulu International Children?s Film Festival, observed festival director Pentti Kejonen, who has kicked off the anniversary showcase, which ends on Sunday, 19 November.
Two Finnish features are among the 13 entries in competition, including Saara Cantell?s debut, Unna ja Nuuk (Unna and Nuuk), and Johanna Vuoksenmaa?s Onni von Sopanen. There are another three Nordic contenders for the ?3,000 Star Boy grand prix, Danish directors Niels Arden Oplev?s Drømmen (We shall overcome), Kasper Barfoed?s Tempelriddernes skat (The Lost Treasure of the Knights Templar), and Norwegian director Arild Fröhlich?s Pitbullterje (Pitbull Terje).
The programme also comprises films by this year?s guests of honour, Finnish filmmakers Liisa Helminen, Kaija Juurikkala, Katariina Lillqvist, Heikki Prepula, Matti Ranin and Raili Rusto. A special anniversary selection will screen four Star Boy winners, such as Danish director Hans Fabian Wullenweber?s Klatretøsen (Catch that Girl) and Finnish director Ella Lemhagen?s Tsatsiki, morsan och polisen (Tsatsiki, Mum and the Policeman).
