OPPORTUNITIES: iEARN World Conference a Youth Summit

YOUTH SUMMIT

As part of the International iEARN World Conference, a Youth Summit will be organised. In July 2006 100-150 young people from 40-50 countries will spend a week together, working and having fun.

Goals
-Getting to know each other
-Working together on global issues

Theme
The group has chosen the Millennium Development Goals as focus for the program of the week. Related to these UN goals activities will be organised and participants will share experiences, knowledge and strategies on related local and global issues. One of the outcomes could be focussed on the role iEARN Youth could play in jointly promoting and implementing the Millennium Development Goals.

Preparations
A group of young people in the Netherlands is involved in the preparation process of the summit. This group consists of participants to summits in the past, students and young people in general that have an interest in working globally and of course with youth in particular.

Also students from two teacher-training colleges will be strongly involved in the process as part of their regular study-program.
