EVENTS: Children’s festival will occupy heart of media summit

A festival for children and young people will run together with the World Summit on Media for Children in Malaysia later this year, placing children and young people at the heart of the event.

The WSMC, organised by the ABU and hosted by Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) from 8-10 September 2014, will bring together more than 1,000 media practitioners, educators, students, industry pioneers and community leaders.

They will meet at the Royale Chulan in Kuala Lumpur to discuss ways of improving media for children and young people. This will be the first time a World Summit on Media for Children has been held in Asia since the movement began in 1995.

Organisers of the KidFest event say that while the professionals debate how to educate and entertain the future citizens of the world, next door in the Sari Theatre, children from Malaysia and the world will enjoy "an interactive program to include doodle, live performances, competitions and, of course, a lot of fun, games, music and dance"

KidFest from 9-10 September will be presented by Selangor fm, as one of the state radio stations under the umbrella of RTM. The parallel event is also supported by the ABU.

The growing list of partners who will join the Festival also includes KRAFTANGAN Malaysia, EBS Korea, Faber Castell, Elite Animation, Les'Copaque Productions, Al-Rawsha Restaurant, Nestle, KidZania Kuala Lumpur and KRU Studios.
