OPPORTUNITIES: UNICEF and Adobe team up on digital festival to empower young people

Take the Adobe Youth Voices Aspire Awards UNICEF Challenge! Youth who submit the best proposals for using digital media to bring positive change to their communities receive financial support and know-how to execute their projects.

NEW YORK, United States of America, 5 April 2013 – UNICEF has teamed up with software company Adobe Systems Incorporated (Adobe) to sponsor a festival that celebrates the achievements of young people who use technology to make creative change in their communities.

Global online competition – for youth

The Adobe Youth Voices Aspire Awards is a global online competition that invites young people to use digital media and storytelling to explore important issues, and to propose solutions.

Young people aged 13–19 are eligible to enter eight categories that include animation, documentary, music video and graphic design. A ninth category, the UNICEF Challenge, invites applicants to create a video proposal for a project in their own community.

“The UNICEF Challenge is the first ever partnership between UNICEF and the Adobe Foundation,” said UNICEF Chief of Social and Civic Media Gerrit Beger. “Together, we want to invite youth from all over the world to be creative and find innovative ways to use digital media to bring positive change to their communities. We will then help the winners to implement the project by providing financial support and know-how.”
