ARTICLES: Evaluating the Long-Term Impact of Youth Media Programs


We were so happy to see this announcement fromNAMAC Member Organization, Community Television Network (CTVN). A group of Chicago youth media organizations, the Chicago Youth Voices Network, have embarked on an evaluation process to assess the degree to which hands-on education in media production and distribution contributes to developing productive, independent, and engaged citizens.
Over the past decade, we at NAMAC have not wavered in our conviction that investment in media arts education can lead to profound improvementsin student learning and capacity for creative thinking, problem-solving, and innovation.
Now, this research initiative, conducted by the Social IMPACT Research Center and funded by The Robert R. McCormick Foundation, will provide robust, quantitative and qualitative evidence to substantiate our observations and intuitions regarding the tremendous impact of youth media.
