A young people’s filmmaking organisation is one of several community groups benefiting from money confiscated from criminals.
The Glasgow Media Access Centre, which helps young people from targeted areas of the city learn about filmmaking through their 'mad about movies' project has been awarded £39,205 from the Cashback for Communities funding.
Since 2007 - £46 million - all recovered through the Proceeds of Crime Act, has been ploughed into communities under the Cashback for Communities scheme.
The Glasgow initiative involves regular movie clubs and a filmmaking summer school alongside a training programme to give teachers and youth workers skills to set up film projects for young people in communities.
