NEWS / CHILDREN'S TV: New 24-hour children's TV channel in Russia

A new television channel for children and youth, Carousel, starts 24-hour broadcasting today in Russia, Voice of Russia reported. Carousel will offer feature films, cartoons and programmes for children.

The Russian State Television and Broadcasting company and Channel One manage the new youth and children’s channel.

The new channel will be included in the first multiplex (a mandatory package of channels that broadcast on the same frequency). According to Presidential decree, it comprises another seven television and three radio channels. By 2015, a digital distribution network of the first multiplex with coverage of up to 98.8 percent of the population, will be created.
