OPOORTUNITIES: Environmental reporting competition for young African journalists

A UN-sponsored award will honor a young African journalist who reported on environmental issues in his or her community during 2010. The deadline is December 31, and the award ceremony will take place in Nairobi from February 21 to 25, 2011.

Sample topics include: sustainable development, pollution or climate change.

Applicants must be between 25 and 35 years old and work for an African news organization. Print, broadcast and online journalists are eligible to apply. The winner will be eligible for a free trip to the U.S., where he/she will interact with leading environmental figures.
