We have prepared a really rocking package for you. Here comes 5 hours of full programs from children for children around the globe - genuine World Children's Radio:
* This is Europe
Children from the Berlin Wissel-Primary school designed a cool Europe Show with children radio producers from the whole of europe (England, Latvia, Rumania, Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey). A highlight of our Europen Children's radio EUCHIRA!
* A journey through Africa
Kids from Ghana, Senegal, and Berlin design the first combined radio show!
We dedicate this show to our new partner, ABC (Africa's Best Channel) that will be launched promptly at the ICDB in Nigeria. ABC was founded by the world-wide respected Child-Media expert; Firdoze Bulbulia. In 2007, she organised the World Children's Media Summit in Johannesburg and since then we have dreamed of working together. And now it's happened!
* We discover the World: Asia
We present to you the first radio bridge from Kyrgyzstan, between our partner broadcast station in the city of Talas and the Berlin Metropolitan School! Thanks to UNESCO and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development for their support.
* Radijojo World Children's Media Summit
We join the Global Youth Council, the world council for Child-Media! Kids of the Mendel-Primary school have collaborated with pupils from Malaysia, India, South Africa, Zambia, Australia, Slovakia, and Tanzania. They have produced a great broadcast around the theme of Media. We will present the broadcast in June at the World Children's Media Summit in Sweden that is organised by the Global Youth Council.
* Aaaaaaannd: Also, our Transatlantic Children's radio, Across the Ocean has two highlights for you and all fans of the ICDB:
Angaangaq Angakkorsuaq
Please meet Angaangaq Angakkorsuaq, one of the elders of the Kalaallit Eskimo tribe . He is one of the leading representatives of the First Nations, the original inhabitants of Greenland and North America. Radijojo kids reporters used the chance for an exclusive indepth interview with him!
Buffy Saint-Marie
You've got to know the wonderful musician, Buffy Saint-Marie, who's songs have been sung by stars like Elvis Presley, Janis Joplin, Donovan and Joe Cocker. For many years she has brought her Native Indian culture to the attention of the world and as a result, she encounted a lot of problems: her songs were banned from many radio stations (but thankfully that's all over now). For children, she founded an organisation that enables young Native Indians to preserve the culture of their ancestors.
About the ICDB (International Children's Day of Broadcasting)
UNICEF organizes this day every year, and all over the world many Children, Radio, and TV Broadcastors join in. Why? So that all the world can come together, so that the
children have a RIGHT to a fantastic Radio station from Children for Children! Last year, Radijojo took part and even received a prize from UNICEF in New York. For this reason,
we're rocking the house for you. Lots of fun! Please tell all your friends!
