Hyderabad, Jan 23 : UNICEF Hyderabad chief Michel Saint-Lot today said it was the duty of television media to fight discrimination against women and girl child as part of overall strategy to improve child and maternal health by highlighting burning issues like child marriages, female foeticide and infanticide, high infant and maternal mortality.
Addressing a gathering at the UNICEF-2010 awards for gender-sensitive programme in Telugu TV channels, he said UNICEF has taken the lead to highlight the issues faced by the girl child through the eyes of television producers and filmmakers for the fourth year.
