CIFEJ, through its Kids For Kids movement, his proud to announce a partnership with the directors of the Spanish cinema school for young filmmakers, Orson the Kid, on another groundbreaking project called:
this is me
on the rights of the child
A feature film written, designed, interpreted, directed and edited by 100 children and adolescents from Europe, Latin and North America, Asia, the Middle East and Africa. An original project conceived, developed, produced and directed by the film school for children and youth ORSON the KID.
THIS IS ME, will be a feature film shot around the world, denouncing the non-respect of children’s rights, as approved by the United Nations.
The film will be a collection of 6 stories representing the lack of human rights for children on each continent. It will not be a documentary, nor a docu-drama, nor a reality show; it will be a fiction describing life through the protagonist’s stories.
Orson the Kid has years of experience in cine-literacy and audiovisual education for children and adolescents. Created seven years ago, this unique school welcomed over 700 students of 12 different nationalities; over that period, 30 short films and 2 feature films were produced thanks to 40 collaborators and major international sponsors.
If you are 10 to 18 years old and want to express your view or tell your story on Children’s Rights, this project is for you! The first step is to send in your story (maximum 2 pages), and if it is selected, you will be invited to participate in a script seminar to work on the final script with other authors and the professionals from the Orson the Kid school. The calendar for pre-production, production and post-production will be draft by the school team, and each story will be shot in its original country. The final editing, soundtrack, subtitles will be produced in Madrid, and the film THIS IS ME will be screened simultaneously worldwide on November 20th 2009 for the 50th anniversary of the United Nations’ Convention on Children’s Rights.
