A conference exploring the effects and opportunities of new media on children and youth

The Irish Youth Media Foundation are pleased to invite you to their inaugural conference ‘Youth Media Democr&cy,’ to be held in Dublin on 18th-19th April 2008.

This exciting event sets out to explore the effects that new media have on the youth, and will also focus on the tremendous opportunities that new medias bring.

The conference will be opened by the Irish Education Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, Eamon Ryan; followed by a keynote address from David Buckingham, Professor of Education; Director, Centre for the Study of Children, Youth and Media - University of London.

New research will be presented through both papers and workshops as well as providing an opportunity to watch youth media projects being created, as youth groups from both and south Ireland will be participating. This will provide a unique opportunity to experience youth media culture as it is being produced.
