Minister rules out restriction foods ads in children's TV time

Health Minister Pete Hodgson is ruling out restricting food advertising on television during children's viewing hours, saying voluntary moves by advertisers are promising.
New research has found New Zealand children are being exposed to more food advertisements on television, most for unhealthy food, although the figures are being disputed by the Television Broadcasters Council.
Mr Hodgson says the recent move by fast-food giant McDonald's to cut its children's advertising shows efforts to work with the industry through the Food Industry Accord are succeeding.
He is rejecting calls by the Obesity Action Coalition, which commissioned the research, and the researchers for Government
